ROSLYN SAVINGS FOUNDATION RENEWS $10,000 GRANT FOR COMPUTER INSTRUCTION AT GATHERING PLACE CLUBHOUSE
The Roslyn Savings Foundation has graciously made a $10,000 donation to the Mental Health Association, for the “Computer Instruction Project” at the Gathering Place Clubhouse. Over time, the Roslyn Savings Foundation has provided funds to allow over 200 mental health consumers to take over 4,000 computer lessons. The lessons have focused on basic word processing, the use of the internet, Excel, and Power Point.
The Computer Instruction Project also benefited from the MHA’s move to its new home at 16 Main Street, by obtaining a bigger classroom featuring more computers, and more internet access.
GPC Clubhouse Director John Javis praised the Roslyn Savings Foundation, and its Executive Director Sharon Grosser, (pictured above) for their support. He said, “Mental health programs like the Gathering Place have historically tight budgets. Without the Roslyn Savings Foundation, we could not afford to offer computer instruction to our members. Computer classes are easily the most popular part of our program.”
